2025 Chevy Suburban
The longest-running model in the Chevy lineup is the Suburban. With the first version debuting in 1935, the Suburban has charted a course as one of the mainstays of the brand, giving drivers a rugged, reliable, and capable SUV that outperforms so many of its rivals. For drivers who are looking for a three-row, full-size SUV, it is hard to find something else like the Suburban that offers so much and is built on a legacy of performance, power, and capability.
The 2025 Chevy Suburban is a mid-generation update of the twelfth-generation model introduced for the 2021 model year. The interior of the Suburban has been refreshed, giving you more standard comfort and convenience features in your SUV. This is a plus for families looking to use the Suburban as their primary vehicle. Included in this update is a massive new 17.7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. In addition, the available turbo-diesel engine for the Suburban has been given a boost, and Chevy has also added more standard and available technology to make your ride safer and more enjoyable.

Performance
Chevy has equipped the 2025 Suburban with the same choice of engines as in prior years of the twelfth-generation model. However, it has improved one of the engine options, giving you more performance than the 2024 model. This demonstrates Chevy’s commitment to continually improving all its vehicles, including the Suburban.
Three Engine Options
The base engine that comes standard on all trims except the High Country is a 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 gas engine. This engine utilizes Dynamic Fuel Management technology and variable valve timing to enhance fuel efficiency, a notable benefit in a full-size SUV. Essentially, it shuts down some of the engine’s cylinders when the extra power isn't needed, resulting in more efficient performance. The engine has an output of 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.
The High Country trim of the 2025 Suburban is equipped with a larger 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 gas engine. This is also available as an option on the Z71, RST, and Premier trim levels. It also has 16 valves and uses Dynamic Fuel Management technology and variable valve timing like the 5.3L engine, but has a higher output of 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Chevy also offers an available 3.0L Duramax turbo-diesel engine on the Suburban. This is an inline-six engine with a dual overhead camshaft configuration that has 24 valves for its six cylinders. You can equip this option on any trim of the Suburban except for the entry-level LS. Chevy has improved the output of this engine for 2025, boosting it to 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. This represents a 28 hp and 35 lb-ft torque increase over the turbo-diesel engine in the 2024 Suburban.
Fuel Economy
While the Suburban won’t give you the efficiency you would find in a compact model, it actually delivers solid numbers for a three-row, full-size SUV. Depending on the engine you choose, you can enjoy fuel economy numbers that won't damage your budget.
The engine that provides the best fuel economy is the Duramax turbo-diesel. This will give you an EPA-estimated 23 MPG combined when equipped with rear-wheel drive. The base 5.3L V8 gives you a respectable 17 MPG combined with rear-wheel drive, while the 6.2L V8 has a solid 16 MPG combined with both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. The Duramax and 5.3L gas engine experience a slight decline in fuel efficiency when you choose a Suburban with four-wheel drive.
Speed and Acceleration
While the Chevy Suburban may not be a sports car, it still gives you solid speed and acceleration, something that will certainly come in handy when making a school run or merging onto a busy highway during rush hour.
The 2025 Suburban has a top speed of 113 mph, so you won’t have a problem getting around, no matter which engine you choose. Models that are equipped with the 6.2L V8 gas engine can get from zero to 60 mph in a very impressive 6.1 seconds.
While choosing the Duramax turbo-diesel will give you the best fuel efficiency in your Suburban, it may take longer to get it up to speed. The Suburban with this engine gets to 60 mph in about 8.4 seconds. The 5.7L V8 is somewhere in between, with a zero to 60 mph time of around 7.6 seconds.
Capabilities
One of the things that helps set the 2025 Chevy Suburban apart from other full-size SUVs is the vehicle’s extraordinary capabilities. Not only will it seat up to nine passengers comfortably, but it can also provide you with the ability to get jobs done, whether you plan to use your Suburban for work, family time, or adventure.
Towing
The Suburban gives you incredible towing capability that can rival many pickup trucks. If you plan to use your SUV to tow boats, trailers, campers, or equipment, then the Suburban is the one for you. Depending on which engine you choose for your Suburban, you can tow up to 8,200 lb.
Chevy has made towing even safer and easier than ever with the 2025 model. This is because it offers a range of technologies to enhance the trailering capabilities of the Suburban. Hitch View gives you many different views to make it easier to hook your vehicle up to a trailer, while Trailer Tire Health monitors the air pressure on the trailer’s tires, alerting you to a potential blowout.
One of the most helpful new apps is Trailer Navigation, which calculates a route based on the size of the trailer you are towing so you can comply with all road requirements. This is all part of Chevy’s commitment to helping you use the towing capabilities of your Suburban.
Cargo Hauling
The interior of the Suburban not only lends itself to passenger comfort, but it is also designed for versatility, allowing you to transport cargo and belongings when needed. The liftgate on the Suburban opens to a spacious 41.5 cu.ft. of trunk space. All of the trims except the LS come with a standard programmable power liftgate. This will make loading easier during your next shopping trip to the local mall.
If you need more space for your things, you can simply fold down one or both of the back rows of seats in your Suburban. You can enjoy up to 144.7 cu.ft. of cargo space in the Suburban, making it the ideal model for DIYers who need to transport supplies home from the hardware store.
Off-Roading
Drivers who crave off-road adventure will love the Z71 trim of the Suburban. This model comes standard with four-wheel drive, with an Autotrac two-speed active transfer case sending the right amount of horsepower to each wheel depending on terrain conditions. It also has skid plates to shield the vehicle’s undercarriage and red recovery hooks to help you tow yourself out of a jam. This is all you need when you decide to take on the great outdoors in your 2025 Chevy Suburban.
Technology
Safety
Every 2025 Chevy Suburban comes equipped with a suite of standard Chevy Safety Assist features. This set of active driver assistance systems will help ensure you and your passengers arrive safely at your destination by alerting you to potential hazards, allowing you to take evasive action and avoid an accident. In fact, the Suburban has one of the most comprehensive sets of standard safety features ever offered by Chevrolet.
One of the most common causes of highway accidents is changing lanes. Fortunately, the Suburban has you covered. Blind Zone Steering Assist goes beyond a standard blind zone monitoring system. When you signal to change lanes and begin to make your move, this feature will alert you to the presence of another vehicle in the adjacent lane and use a firm turn of the Suburban’s steering wheel to get you out of harm’s way.
The Suburban also has standard Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist. One of the biggest concerns many motorists have about driving a full-size SUV is trying to park their vehicle. This feature does all the hard work for you. Once it is engaged, it will automatically steer, brake, and shift gears to get your Suburban parked in any detected parallel or perpendicular space. This means you won’t have to worry about fender benders when you are parking your vehicle.
Many accidents happen when you are pulling out of a parking space. While your rearview camera will show what is behind you, you may not be aware of another vehicle crossing behind your Suburban. Rear Cross Traffic Braking on your Suburban will not only detect and alert you to someone about to cross behind you when you are in reverse, it will also engage the emergency brakes so you can avoid a collision.
These are just some of the incredible assortment of standard driver assistance and safety features on the 2025 Suburban. This shows that Chevy is committed to the safety of you and your passengers when you choose to drive one of the brand’s vehicles.
Infotainment
The 2025 Chevy Suburban keeps you connected and entertained wherever you go. This is because every trim has an infotainment system with a massive 17.7-inch touchscreen. This will make it easier than ever to use your infotainment system to access your favorite features. In fact, this is over seven inches larger than the display screen on the 2024 Suburban.
To use the infotainment system, simply connect your phone with wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. This means that you can use the system even if you left your charging cables at home. Once connected, you can make hands-free calls and texts using voice commands. You can even stream your own music while you drive your Suburban. The system also has Google built-in, letting you access your favorite apps while on the road.
